Water Form -- This image was taken from the same position as Duck on the Shirakawa, though with a different lens. The rocks are part of a partial dam across the Shirakawa and the abstract form was created by the water swirling around it. The shutter was open for one minute.
Ancestors -- This photograph was also taken in Rokuhara Chinkouji temple. The old woman bowed repeatedly during the exposure, which was about eight or nine seconds.

Winter Temple #1, Winter Temple #2 -- These two photographs were taken in Kenninji temple just after a snowfall at about 1 a.m. The exposure was only a few seconds as the streetlight and the city lights reflecting off the low, heavy clouds provided ample illumination. The left photo was taken using my bicycle rack as a tripod. The other was taken while holding the shutter down manually and moving my hands in a random pattern.
Duck on the Shirakawa -- The title comes from the faint, swirling shape near the lower center of the image. It is a duck preening itself. This exposure was about 45 seconds.
Sakura -- Again, the Shirakawa provides a backdrop. This night was completely still. Despite an exposure time of about ten seconds, the sakura didnt move or blur at all.
